We’re a couple days late, but we just got in off the road. The second Tuesday in June each year is Ride to Work Day. On Tuesday, ABATE of Indiana Executive Director Jay Jackson (also Vice President of the Motorcycle Riders Foundation), along with MRF President Kirk “Hardtail” Willard, rode to work in Washington, D.C.
On Wednesday they joined the Congressional Motorcycle Caucus for their Ride to Work event. Caucus leadership Rep. Tim Walberg (MI), Rep. Troy Balderson (OH), Rep. Derrick Van Orden (WI) and Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ) each addressed the crowd and explained why motorcycling is important to them.
Jay then lead the Congressmen, congressional staff and representatives from the American Motorcyclist Association, Harley-Davidson, the Specialty Equipment Market Association and the Motorcycle Industry Council on a ride around the National Mall.
The intent of the event was to draw attention to motorcycling and it certainly accomplished that.
