The General Assembly mid-term break is over. I'm waiting on the two bills I have been watching to have some movement, but it seems to not be happening.

 

HB1200, the bill dealing with helmets for under-age off-road riders, has made it through the House and has had first reading on the Senate floor and been assigned to the Public Policy committee. We are still waiting for that committee to hear the bill.

 

HB1491 is a bill that, among other things, deals with the registration of older model three wheel autocycles. It also made it through through the House and has made it through first reading in the Senate and been assigned to the Homeland Security and Transportation committee. We are also waiting for that committee to hear that bill.

 

 As is often the case when dealing with the General Assembly there is a lot of “hurry up and wait”. I suppose we are, at this writing, in a slump. Hopefully things will have started moving by the time this article is printed.

 

April 12 is the last day of third reading of House bills in the Senate. That is really not long from now. As I write this article I really can't imagine HB1200 will not be heard, but strange things can happen.

 

That is basically it for this month. We are still waiting for action. Until the action starts, RIDE far, RIDE safe and RIDE FREE!
